Either way, I'm still tempted.

Nice price if the floorboards are not rusted through. Otherwise, it will buff right out.

wonder why the tranny is out. You could give it a spin and find out if it is junk pretty easily. Slow car, but grand.
It is a barn find if it was found in a barn

Are these rare in the US? If so it might just be NP... but I saw a running one for sale in Norway two weeks ago for just $2500, but they're perhaps a teensy weensy bit more common here though.

Pretty rare once you get back into the 60's. They usually rust into dust from all the salt we use on the roads. Especially here in the midwest.

Ahh. well, if the floor is intact I'd say BUY IT :) if the drivetrain is busted, just drop a 350 and an appropriate slushbox in it, Burnouts GALORE :)

Good point, but I'd have to assume the trannys in trouble or it wouldn't be out. But if it really has been in a barn, might have kept the rust away.

I have seen an awful lot worse than that. My turquoise 230 was a rot box, but still drove nicer than almost anything contemporary to it

I hear you. I loved my 240d even though it was falling apart around me.
